FROM ZERO TO INFINITY

An ongoing collaborative fine art project between Victor Raphael and Clayton Spada exploring the Story of Everything. From Zero to Infinity, takes as its territory the space between science and the ineffable and uses the vehicle of art on this continuing journey that began more than 18 years ago. Space and time are malleable in this pictorial universe where ancient thought meets contemporary knowledge and spiritual icons converge with imagery culled from scientific photography.

Jean-Pierre hebert & Victor Raphael

Victor Raphael and Jean-Pierre Hébert first met as exhibitors at the international SIGGRAPH conference in 1999, where they began a friendship and collaborative relationship that lasted almost two decades. Their first collaborative art making efforts were in 2001 and continued on through 2012. Hébert would transform Raphael’s digital files with his unique computational algorithmic systems and Raphael would illuminate Hébert’s prints and drawings with applications of gold/silver and other metal leaf, so Hébert would be surprised à la cadavres exquis.

BILL ARON & VICTOR RAPHAEL

Bill Aron is renowned for documenting Jewish communities around the world. The basis for the collaboration between Victor Raphael and Bill Aron has been for Raphael to transform Aron’s photographs with applications of gold/silver and metal leaf material, opening Aron’s images up to new interpretations. Four decades of Aron’s photography was reviewed to find the images that would be worked on. Raphael was especially interested in finding points of connection between their work.
